Club Runner

Having thought about it, talked about it, Googled it and procrastinated way too much I have finally gone out and done it.
I have joined a running club. I am now a member of The Peel Road Runners.
I've been running for over 12 months and steadily increased until I was running three times a week and a regular 10k distance. My routes vary and I make sure I include hill running as well as changing the times of day I go out, from 5am to evening runs. I try and run on different terrain where I can although it's mainly pavements I'm pounding there's an occasional canal run and my favourite run through Sutton Park.
As much as I enjoy my running routine I feel I could do more, mix it up a bit and push myself further. This is why I looked at joining a club, it feels like I'm taking my running up a level.
I've only been on 3 club runs so far but already I am beginning to learn more about pacing myself. Not having run with groups of others before I am finding out how to fit in with runners that have a similar pace and then maintain it - not race the clock as I'm prone to do.
The security of being out in a group of runners is also a bonus as I've previously found myself sprinting through underpasses or diverting from paths to avoid alleyways.
I am already finding I'm running further and seemingly without as much effort due to my pace being more consistent. Goals are looking achievable and running is starting to get more exciting.
I'm now looking forward to sharing more of my adventures as a Peel Road Runner as I find out just how far I can go.
