On Your Marks, Get Set...

I have been talking about writing a new blog for quite a while and since starting back in business recently it seemed the ideal opportunity. However, I just haven't been quite ready.
My original blog An Unfashionable Cancer  follows my kidney cancer journey which is still ongoing but I've found writing it increasingly difficult. The need to move on and leave the whole cancer thing behind has been my focus so continuing to record this isn't easy.
In fact, my drive to lead a healthier lifestyle has kickstarted my new business which is why the need for a fresh blog was necessary. Having previously run Missfit Creations I had wanted to start up with a new company name and wasted a lot of time deliberating over this. In the meantime I had been running for 12 months and going to yoga every week and knew that the fitness industry was what I wanted to enter.
Running has given me huge inspiration as the ideas flow whilst I'm pounding the pavements or tearing through the trails. I can envision exactly what I need to do while I'm running along but soon after the endorphins start fading so does my enthusiasm. The need to run is ever present it's just the need to run a business that is proving harder to maintain.
Yoga has also improved my life in many ways, from the gentle flow of exercise which often mirrors the physiotherapy I've had, to the relaxation techniques. This along with the feeling of calm it evokes has kept me attending my weekly class, not to mention the wonderful people I've met at Midlands Yoga
Eventually I came full circle in the search for a new business name and returned to Missfit - the clue being in the title and so MissfitUK was born. Next came a search for products which have begun to arrive from all over the globe - more on that once I get off my starting blocks.... Work is also progressing on a range of fitness clothing that will fit neatly into the niche product range, I still strive to be different (once a Missfit...)
On the health front that is pretty much where the new business idea began. While in hospital having my kidney removed, all that is wrong about the hospital gown was uncovered - literally! As I recuperated I came up with a new design which I subsequently shared with some NHS experts who were looking at patient experience. The hospital gown came top of a list of things which needed most improvement. I received some excellent feedback about my gown and this is currently going through the design registration process. Together with a few other 'healthy options' in the health sector I'm hoping to reveal a few more innovative products in time.
Time being the operative word as I never seem to have enough or it's just not the right time so I reckon there's no time like the present...
Go!
